Royal Ascot 2019: best bets for Flat racing's summer showpiece
The TelegraphOne of Britain’s iconic summer sporting events takes place next week as more than half a billion pounds of equine talent showcase their ability at Royal Ascot. The best place to watch all the action may well be on ITV as a five-day rail strike by guards on South Western Railway trains is set to make for an uncomfortable journey for the expected 350,000 racegoers, but hopefully the horses that I’m about to suggest backing will be faster than the replacement buses making their way to the Berkshire track. Horses have a habit of running well at this meeting time and time again, so I think it’s worth following a couple of runners who were successful at this meeting last year. The first of those is Settle For Bay in the Royal Hunt Cup, which takes place at 5pm on Wednesday.
