Drivers of private buses must carry NIOC certificate, govt. informs HC
The State government informed the Kerala High Court that the police have decided that all drivers of private buses must carry a non involvement in offences certificate and that the right to employment of any driver found to be using intoxicants/drugs and are charged with possession or use of the same will be forfeited. The government pleader also submitted that the State Transport Authority has issued a circular making it compulsory for all buses to display a sticker with the message: “Am I driving dangerously? Send WhatsApp video to 9188961100.” Made mandatory Besides, installation of front facing, rear-facing, and inside cameras in all buses has been made mandatory to prevent over-speeding and misbehaviour by drivers and conductors. The court observed that every authority vested with relevant power and jurisdiction is urged to ensure that traffic in the city roads, as also other places, is orderly without being chaotic and in full compliance of all legal and statutory requirements.
