Potential cap cuts who could fit the Seahawks, and help Russell Wilson
New York TimesWhen it comes to free agency, the Seahawks are proud bargain shoppers. Since quarterback Russell Wilson essentially went on a media tour last week throwing shade at the front office’s ability to draft or sign adequate offensive linemen – “I’m frustrated with getting hit too much,” he said on Feb. 9 – we’ll focus solely on that position in assessing guys from our potential “cap casualty” list who the Seahawks may need to pursue. Wilson would like Seattle to pursue some of the players on Sheil Kapadia’s list of the top 50 free agents since bargain shopping hasn’t exactly paid off in recent years. That’s a pressure percentage of 4.5 percent which, for some perspective, is nearly identical to Seattle right tackle Brandon Shell’s rate last season. Seattle could figure that, at his best, Turner is a fairly young, high-upside guy on the interior at a far more team-friendly price than the $11.5 million cap hit he’s carrying with the Chargers.
