Hummer murder: Court hands life imprisonment to Kerala beedi baron for murdering guard

Thrissur: A Kerala court today sentenced Kerala's beedi baron Mohammed Nisham to imprisonment for life along with a fine of Rs 80.30 lakh. The judge also stated that Jamanthi, wife of the deceased guard Chandrabose, will be paid Rs 50 lakh from the fine amount. Pronouncing the quantum of sentence, the court also directed to file a case against Nisham's wife Amal who was an eye-witness of the brutal incident but later turned hostile in the case. “Nisham will have to undergo life imprisonment under IPC section 302 and an additional 24 years under various sections of the IPC, including 326, and 427,” said SPP Udayabhanu.
