Union Budget 2025: CM Siddaramaiah presents Karnataka’s wishlist to Centre

Urging the Centre to release pending dues to Karnataka ahead of the Union Budget, Karnataka has presented its financial requirement from the Centre for projects across sectors. Social security pension Stating that the Central assistance in social security pension coverage was just about 17 % of the total beneficiaries, a memorandum submitted to the Centre by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that while 14.14 lakh beneficiaries received assistance from the Centre, 68.66 lakh beneficiaries were covered by the State government. It also sought release of the balance of ₹3,300 crore towards the local body grants to urban local bodies, panchayat raj Institutions, health grants and under SDRF. Urging the Centre to declare the ₹16,125-crore Upper Bhadra project as a national project, which will ensure Central funding of 60% of the project cost, Mr. Siddaramaiah urged the Centre to move the Supreme Court to publish the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal decision and take up the appraisal of the DPR of Upper Krishna Project III. He also sought an enhancement in Centre’s contribution to urban and rural housing schemes, financial assistance through interest free or soft loans to state power distribution companies, additional financial allocation to the backward Kalyana Karnataka region, additional railway lines and completion of ongoing railway projects, and adequate allocation and release to disaster relief.
