UK and US to start work on 'new economic deal with AI front and centre', Keir Starmer says

The UK and the US will begin work on a 'new economic deal with advanced technology at its core', Sir Keir Starmer said yesterday. He said at a joint press conference in the Oval Office with Donald Trump that the technology could cure cancer and could be a 'moonshot for our age'. The UK has previously been a champion of the idea of AI safety, with then prime minister Rishi Sunak holding the world's first safety summit on the technology in November 2023.
