Lockdown lifts in Queensland's south, as another starts in the north. Here's what you need to know
ABCSouth-east Queensland's lockdown has ended, but residents in another part of the state are just starting theirs. For the next two weeks: Up to 10 people can gather in homes, including people who live there Up to 10 people can gather in public spaces, such as parks and beaches Businesses such as hospitality, gyms, and hairdressers can now open with one person per 4 square metres or 50 per cent ticketed and seated Smaller venues of less than 200 square metres must limit guests to one person per 2 square metres, up to a maximum 50 people Weddings are limited to 20 people, including those officiating. Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said she was happy for sports to continue in schools, but does not want community sports teams to gather for the next two weeks. All children from years 7 to 12 must wear masks at school and while travelling to and from school All adults at primary, secondary and special schools must wear masks, including teachers while they are teaching No inter-school sport or activities are allowed, sport within the school is fine Right now, primary school children do not need to wear masks, but Queensland Health authorities are examining that as a future requirement. Residents must stay at home, and only go out for four reasons: Obtaining essential items such as groceries or medication Essential work, if you cannot work from home Exercise within your local area Healthcare, including to get a COVID-19 test or vaccination, or to provide help, care or support to a vulnerable person, or for an end-of-life visit to a hospital or aged care facility What's closed?
