
Ernakulam district administration, Health dept. step up measures against spread of infectious diseases
The HinduThe spike in infectious diseases has prompted the Ernakulam district administration and the Health department to step up control measures. District Medical Officer Dr. Asha Devi said on Wednesday that cases would be registered under the Kerala Public Health Act against those responsible for creating conditions that result in the spread of infectious diseases. The Kerala Public Health Act, 2023, has provisions for imposing fine ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹30,000 for violations including distributing water and food that cause infectious diseases and for not vaccinating domestic animals. The district administration and the Health wing have sought the cooperation of the police and the local bodies concerned to act against those responsible for supply of contaminated drinking water, according to the authorities.
