A 39-year-old gangster died following an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district in the early hours of Saturday, December 14. According to the police, Anil alias Sonu Matka, a known associate of the Hashim Baba gang in Delhi, was critically injured in the encounter with a joint team of UP STF and Delhi Police Special Cell. The encounter broke out in the early hours of Saturday in Merrut's TP Nagar area after the police received input about his location. The joint operation was conducted by the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Delhi Police's Special Cell," Additional Director General of Police Amitabh Yash was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
