As Donald Trump swore in as the 47th president of the United States, a Border Patrol agent was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Vermont near the Northern border, Fox News reported. The Department of Homeland Security said that the Border Patrol agent was killed during a traffic stop in Coventry, Vermont on Monday, January 20, at 3:15 pm. Cars are backed up at the US-Canada border in Stanstead, Quebec, after a shooting involving a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Coventry, Vt., Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Trump promised during his inaugural address that he would tackle illegal immigration and declare a national emergency at the southern border.
