CEO of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi: We will ‘wait to get the facts’ on Khashoggi killing
CNNLaguna Beach, California CNN Business — Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says he’s waiting for more information about the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi before taking any action over the Saudi government’s significant investment in the startup. Khosrowshahi was one of the first major CEOs to pull out of a high-profile Saudi business conference last month as the international outcry grew over the kingdom’s role in the killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of the Saudi government. And we’re anxious to learn more and then we’ll talk to our board and decide the best way forward.” Dara Khosrowshahi addressed Uber's relationship with the Saudi government on Tuesday. Bin Salman has described the killing publicly as “heinous.” Khosrowshahi said Tuesday that when he pulled out of the Saudi business conference in Riyadh last month, he “didn’t know the facts” about what had happened to Khashoggi but thought it was “inappropriate to attend” at the time.
