Srisailam at 858ft, AP Genco to start producing power from LBP Canal
Deccan ChronicleANANTAPUR: With constant inflows and storage in the Srisailam project, the APGenco authorities announced plans on Friday to generate power from the Left Bank Power Canal. Srisailam dam recorded a level of 858.56ft with a storage of 101.66tmc-ft as against the previous 215.81tmc-ft. About 22,642 cusecs of inflows were recorded from upstream areas of Krishna basin. The TB dam board released 4,493 cusecs of water towards the high level main canal and low level canal towards Anantapur and Kurnool districts. The Tungabhadra high level main canal’s superintendent engineer Rajasekhar told DC the water was stored at various points mainly at PABR to meet the drinking and irrigation needs following allocations from TB dam based on pro rata basis. Farmers under the high level main canal have been making preparations for paddy cultivation, hoping that they would get enough water from the TB dam.
