Earlier, media reports claimed Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi would contest as a Congress candidate against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This came after Congress' election in-charge in Delhi, Kirti Jha Azad, announced the decision on Twitter saying: "Welcome Asha Devi."
