Black by-election campaign takes acrimonious turn as thousands of voters head to the polls in Adelaide's south
ABCVoters in the electorate of Black are returning to the polls today for the third by-election in South Australia in less than three years, after the seat was vacated by former state Liberal leader David Speirs. On the hustings on Friday, both the major parties took aim at each other's campaigns, with Mr Dighton accusing the Liberals of "telling things" to voters "that weren't true". Despite the Electoral Commissioner's ruling, the Liberals doubled down, accusing Labor of not wanting its "dismal record scrutinised". "The Liberal Party takes freedom of speech and political communication very seriously and the Commissioner's correspondence is currently being considered by our legal counsel," party director Alex Hyde said in a statement. "An issue was drawn to our attention regarding an incident at the Hallett Cove Early Voting Centre involving two candidates," the commission said.
