Vishwak Sen’s Laila Opens to a Disastrous Start

Actor Vishwak Sen’s latest release, Laila, had a disastrous opening in the Telugu states, managing only a meager collection on its first day. “The film barely touched ₹1 crore gross on day one and is receiving a mixed to negative response across centers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” says a distributor. He adds, “With a budget of ₹16 crore, the film has a long way to go, but chances of recovery look bleak at this moment.” The film also faced controversy ahead of its release after actor Prudhvi Raaj’s remarks about YCP triggered backlash on social media. While Vishwak Sen’s female disguise generated some pre-release buzz, the film’s reliance on cheap comedy and outdated jokes has further hurt its prospects.
