
Man embezzles ₹70 lakh, buys pistol
The HinduThe Charminar police have arrested a 22-year-old cashier for allegedly misappropriating ₹70 lakh from his employer and using the funds to purchase an illegal firearm and luxury items. According to the police, the complaint was lodged on March 10 after Dewasi discovered that Swaroop had allegedly misappropriated approximately ₹70 lakh through fraudulent activities at the company. Following credible information, the police apprehended Swaroop and, during interrogation, he confessed to using part of the stolen funds to buy a country-made Star mark pistol and five live rounds from Mohan Ram, a resident of Sindhary Village in Rajasthan, for ₹40,000. The police have seized the pistol, ammunition, and the mobile phones and remanded Swaroop in judicial custody.
