Farm laws repealed: Farmers not fazed by cruelty with which BJP treated them, says Mamata Banerjee
India TV NewsWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday congratulated farmers for their relentless fight against three farm laws and said they were not fazed by the "cruelty" of the BJP. Addressing the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the prime minister said the three farm laws were for the benefit of farmers but "we couldn't convince a section of farmers despite best efforts". Farmers have been protesting the government's three farm laws since had passed the Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce Bill, 2020, and the Farmers Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020. The three farm laws are- The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce Act provides for setting up a mechanism allowing the farmers to sell their farm produces outside the Agriculture Produce Market Committees.
