Scammers posting fake jobs on LinkedIn, hacking into devices through video call app

India Today

Cyber scams are becoming more and more sophisticated and disingenuous. A recent report by BleepingComputer has revealed that cyber scammers are now posting fake job listings on LinkedIn and other platforms. When individuals inquire about the posting, the scammers trick them into downloading a malicious video call app called GrassCall, through which they manage to steal sensitive information, including bank details, stored on people’s phones and computers. The group started this scam by posting fake job listings on popular platforms like LinkedIn, WellFound, and CryptoJobsList. The cybercriminals, operating under the guise of a fake company named "ChainSeeker.io," created an elaborate online presence, complete with a professional website and social media profiles on platforms like X and LinkedIn.
