Most Kerala districts now record higher Covid-19 spread than Delhi or Mumbai
India TodayJust a few months back, India was all praise for the "Kerala model" for successfully containing the spread of coronavirus at a time cases were soaring across the country. In fact, most of Kerala's districts now record higher daily cases per million population than worst affected Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. The absolute number of daily cases in Kerala's districts is lower than what Delhi, Mumbai or Pune record, but the daily proportion of population being infected with the virus is still higher than these mega cities in 12 out of its 14 districts. The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases per million population as on Monday, October 12, was 202 in Pune, 187 in Mumbai and 167 in Delhi. Daily cases per million population in Malappuram, Kollam, Ernakulam and the state's capital Thiruvananthapuram were also quite higher than these megacities.
