
Anganwadi workers in Krishnagiri demand scrapping of biometric capture of beneficiaries
The HinduThe Tamil Nadu Angawandi Workers Association has demanded the scrapping of the mandatory use of the Poshan Tracker App and the TN Anganwadi App that entails biometric data capture of beneficiaries. Staging a protest demanding the scrapping of the mandatory capture of the biometric data of pregnant women, lactating mothers, children under six years of age, and adolescent girls as beneficiaries under the Anganwadi programme, the protesters said, the mandate increased the work load of the staff, besides excluding the beneficiaries. The protesters also demanded promotions for Anganwadi workers, who joined service in 1993, as Grade II Anganwadi supervisors. The Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Workers and Assistants Association also demanded the filling up of vacancies across Anganwadis.
