SSI arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minor girl

A special sub-inspector of police was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl at Tirupparankundram near Madurai in the second week of December 2024. Police said SSI P. Jeyapandi, 59, of Thideer Nagar crime police station who was on duty during Karthigai Deepam had allegedly followed a minor girl to a restroom and sexually assaulted her. As the girl did not return for a long time, her parents went searching of her in the restroom, where they found their daughter lying unconscious. In the investigation, they found that Jeyapandi, who was on duty that day, had sexually assaulted the girl.
