The Centre’s pollution control panel, the Commission for Air Quality Management, had invoked Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan, a set of emergency measures to control air pollution, in the NCR on November 2 because of rising pollution. The restrictions included a halt on non-essential construction work, stone crushing, and mining in Delhi-NCR, along with a prohibition on the operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers. ‘People impacted’ The CAQM said the curbs had been lifted keeping in view the “disruptive nature of restrictions impacting a large number of stakeholders and the public as well as considering the significant improvement in air quality”.
