Jharkhand government boosts women-based scheme with Rs 2,500 payout
India TodayThe Hemant Soren-led government is set to disburse an enhanced amount of Rs 2,500 to beneficiaries of the Maiya Samman Yojana, a flagship scheme credited with contributing to the INDIA bloc’s significant victory in Jharkhand. In a key move during the special session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore presented a supplementary budget of Rs 11,697.45 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Of this, the highest allocation of Rs 6,390.55 crore is earmarked for the Women and Child Development Department to fund the Maiya Samman Yojana. Other major allocations in the budget include Rs 2,577.92 crore for the Energy Department, Rs 445.96 crore for the Home Department, Rs 301.89 crore for Secondary Education, and Rs 272.80 crore for Primary Education.
