For those familiar with Bengaluru, Outer Ring Road, Silk Board Junction, Marathahalli, and HSR Layout are some names that send shivers down the spines, especially of daily commuters, and continue to live up to their reputation as the ultimate test of patience. The city’s traffic woes recently became the subject of online satire when former Infosys director Mohandas Pai shared an image labelling Bengaluru’s traffic as a "tourism experience for Char Jam Yatra" The post, which went viral, humorously listed a four-day, three-night itinerary covering the city’s worst congestion points. “Silk Board traffic isn’t congestionit’s Bangalore’s way of making sure you have plenty of time to question all your life decisions, including why you left home in the first place,” wrote one user on X. However, many critics say that tunnel roads and flyovers won’t help; a survey by the IISc revealed that strengthening the Metro Rail Transport System, which includes metros, suburban trains and buses, would be a better long-term solution to the never-ending nightmare that is Bengaluru’s traffic.
