Landslides, cloudburst, bridge collapse as rain batters Himachal; Uttarakhand on alert

The water level in the Balad river rose due to heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, causing a bridge to collapse in Baddi. HEAVY RAIN ALERT IN HIMACHAL, UTTARAKHAND Heavy rains continued to lash parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Tuesday, prompting the weather body to issue a red alert in both the states. Similarly, a red alert has been issued for several Uttarakhand districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar, which have been battered by heavy downpours since Tuesday. UTTARAKHAND RAIN UPDATE Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said a disaster-like situation prevails in the state due to excessive rains and put the losses suffered by the state so far at over Rs 1,000 crore.
