Genetic testing must for precision medicine: Experts
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: The importance of genetic testing in achieving accurate diagnoses and personalised treatments for rare disorders was the focal point of discussions at a workshop organised by the department of medical genetics, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, as part of the 62nd Pedicon conference. Dr Prajnya Ranganath, organising chairperson, highlighted the need for medical practitioners to understand basic genetic principles to enhance patient care. “Genetic testing is no longer optional in clinical practice; it is a necessity to address complex medical conditions,” she explained. Attended by over 100 delegates from paediatrics and other medical fields, the workshop covered a range of genetic testing techniques, exploring their relevance in both diagnosis and management.
