
Karnataka: DC prohibits hurling of goats, sheep during Mailapur annual fair
The HinduDeputy Commissioner B. Susheela has passed a prohibition order preventing devotees from hurling live goats and sheep during the Mailaralingeshwar temple fair at Mailapur village in Yadgir taluk and district. Devotees would hurl goats and sheep on the moving palanquin of god Mailaralingeshwar with religious enthusiasm while going for a holy dip in the tank in the village. She directed all government departments, including Home, Animal Husbandry, Health, Revenue, Public Transport, and others, to make arrangements for devotees to ensure smooth and peaceful fair. The DC banned sale of liquor around the temple and also in Mailapur, Arakera, and Ramsamudra village limits and directed to close shops selling liquor from midnight of January 12 to January 18.
