Delhi air quality improves, but it still remains most-polluted Indian city: Study
India TodayDelhi remains the most polluted city in India despite a reduction in air pollution, a study by the Central Pollution Control Board has revealed. The other NCR cities on the top 10 list also showed an improvement with their PM2.5 levels being reduced by 11 and 25 per cent. Air pollution levels during peak months The findings showed that PM2.5 levels during the peak pollution months of October to December dropped in six of the top 10 most-polluted cities, including all NCR regions and Muzaffarpur — indicating an improvement from the previous year. On the contrary, the PM2.5 levels went up in three cities – Patna by 31 percent, Asansol by 39 per cent and Gwalior by 29 per cent – signalling a significant worsening of air quality. Performance of six pollution-prone cities since NCAP began The CPCB report showed that during the peak pollution months, Lucknow saw a 32.6 per cent drop in PM2.5 levels between 2019 and 2021 and managed to improve it further by 9.4 per cent in 2022.
