Alstom likely to manufacture another 32 driverless trains for Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II project

Alstom is likely to manufacture another 32 driverless trains for Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II project. Alstom bagged the first contract for the Phase II project to build 36 three-coach driverless trains, of which three trains have already arrived in the city. According to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, nearly 900 passengers can travel on a three-coach train each trip, compared to the Phase I trains, where about 1,200 passengers can ride in a single trip. USB charging points have been added to each coach, and this feature doesn’t exist in the Phase I trains,” another official said.
