How to ensure that students get the best of conventional and online learning
India TodayIn the wake of current disruptions and massive closure of educational institutions, education systems around the world are facing an unprecedented challenge. The World Economic Forum reports a surge in the use of language apps, virtual tutoring, video conferencing tools, and online learning software in the last 6-7 months. Millions of students from government schools and colleges, especially in rural areas, do not even have access to education due to the lockdown. It is not just about online instruction, but also about preparing action plans to deal with students who have lost out on education because of the pandemic. Experts have mentioned that it is the passive, mindless and mechanical use of screen time on activities such as aimless social media browsing, binge-watching, and excessive gaming that inflict much more damage on young, developing minds than productive and cognitive activities such as investigative and experiential learning.
