Sink your fork into this simple baked pasta with meatballs

Two things I love; baked pasta and using sausages as meatballs when cooking a sauce. My mother's version is not dissimilar to the ones you find all throughout southern Italy which are sometimes without meat, sometimes with minced meat and sometimes with little meatballs made from sausages. Pasta-wise, I've used ziti, a long tubular pasta which is sometimes called candele lunghe and is often used for baking like I've done here. Buffalo mozzarella substitutes: If you can't get fresh buffalo mozzarella, use hard mozzarella or another melting cheese like provolone or scamorza.
