Chendamangalam murders: accused remanded in judicial custody

Rithu Jayan, 27, who allegedly murdered three members of a family and left one critically injured in Kizhakkumpuram ward of Chendamangalam panchayat, was remanded in 14-day judicial custody by the North Paravur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court 1 on Friday. After he was booked for triple murder, the Vadakkekara police took the accused to the court around 5.15 p.m. A special team led by Munambam Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Jayakrishnan is probing the case under the supervision of District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena. Rithu Jayan had reportedly gone to the house of the targeted family armed with an iron pipe on Thursday evening after being enraged by an allegedly offensive comment about his sister, the police said.
