Upalokayukta express ire over pollution of Nandini River
The HinduWhile expressing ire over failure of officials in preventing pollution of Nandini River near Chelairu because of ingress of untreated sewage water, Upalokayukta B. Veerappa on Saturday directed officials to submit detailed report about source of pollution. The Upalokayukta also directed officials to take action to remove the hyacinth accumulated in the river, near Ullaya Daivastana, in Chelairur village at the earliest and make water compatible for performing religious customs in the river. The visit of Upalokuyukta Mr. Veerappa to the area was following complaint filed by members of Nandini Nadi Samrakshana Samiti before the Upalokayukta. The Uplokayukta also visited APMC yard in Adi Udupi where he expressed the need for proper drinking water facility and better maintenance of pubic toilet.
