Unutilised MPLAD fund, only 29% utilisation certificates issued

HT Image The Central government has stopped next installment of funds to be sanctioned under MPLAD scheme following inability of Block development officers and executive officers of various departments to provide UCs despite several communiqués. Confirming the decision of union government to stop installment for Sangrur district, Vijayinder Singla member parliament said that out of 575 crore distributed various "The figures were very shocking as either funds have not been used to carry out developmental process or were lying in the bank accounts of departments from past three years", he said adding that he will take up the matter with state government regarding such careless attitude on the part of district administration officials. He further said that amount of Rs 39.95 lakh was issued to Malerkotla municipal council for various developmental process but fund utilisation certificates of around 33 lakh were pending with the authorities.
