Congress supporting subversive forces in Punjab: BJP on ex gratia for R-Day violence accused
India TodayThe BJP has accused Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi of “supporting and promoting subversive forces” after the state government announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the 83 people arrested for allegedly stoking violence at the Red Fort on Republic Day. “Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu have been exposed by making this announcement,” BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said. In an announcement made on Friday, CM Charanjit Channi has decided to pay Rs 2 lakh as ex gratia to the 83 people from Punjab who stand accused of rioting and violence at the Red Fort following the farmers’ tractor rally against the three farm laws. Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma dubbed the CM's decision as “unfortunate” and said the BJP strongly condemns this decision of the state government.
