The gist of your message should be something like: “It’s OK if you don’t like my husband, but if you aren’t able to work around those feelings for the sake of our relationship, then I’m not able to hold up my end of the relationship with you, either.” Tell them you’re going to take a few months to think and recover from the hurt feelings around this truncated Christmas.
