
Take action on public grievances in a week, says TNSCSCST vice-chairperson
The HinduThe vice-chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, Imayam alias V. Annamalai, instructed officials to take action on public grievances within a week. Instructing the officials to address the grievances of the public submitted during the meeting, Mr. Annamalai said the actions taken to prevent caste-related crimes, caste discriminations in panchayats where SC/ST people were presidents, handling of cases under the SC/ST Act, delay in providing community certificates for SC/ST and issues in land or patta provided to them were discussed in the meeting. Instructions were given to conduct an awareness meeting against child marriage in schools, colleges, grama sabha meetings, and in places where people gather in large numbers, Mr. Annamalai said. In the meeting, District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Salem City Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Abhinapu, District Superintendent of Police Gautam Goyal and officials participated.
