India TodayFinance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2019-20 today, which is also the first budget of the new Narendra Modi government. With regards to important schemes, the Modi government has decreased allocation for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Program, the Swachh Bharat Mission, umbrella scheme for development of scheduled castes, PM Awas Yojna, among others. On the other hand, the government has increased budget allocation for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna, National Rural Drinking Water Mission, National Livelihood Mission, among others. In Budget 2019-20, the Narendra Modi government has included 122 schemes under these heads-six Core of the core Schemes, 23 Core Schemes, and 93 major Central Sector Schemes.
