Dark Souls For those that didn’t play Dark Souls – or for those that did but got merked by the first enemy – the game has been reduced to one trait: its formidable difficulty, encapsulated in the tagline “prepare to die”. A perfect mix of strategy, skill and pure dumb luck, the game was designed by former modder Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene and is clearly a gamer’s labour of love. FIFA 17 Yes, there’s something very basic about choosing a FIFA game as one of the best of the decade – for years, the franchise has been a byword for incremental improvements and database updates, each new year’s iteration just a slight database tweak away from the last. You could easily spend hours riding around, saving people and hunting things without feeling like you’re wasting time – I found myself staring at the tree bark and the night sky and thinking “wow”.
