The Hindu

The reconstructed Muppalam in Alappuzha municipality is likely to be opened by the end of March. Our plan is to inaugurate the bridge by the end of this month,” said Mr. Chitharanjan, adding that the bridge would also serve as a tourist attraction. Meanwhile, the construction of two other bridges- Punnamada Nehru Trophy bridge and District Court bridge- in Alappuzha municipality is progressing. The Punnamada Nehru Trophy bridge is being constructed at a cost of ₹65.62 crore, including ₹57.12 crore for bridge construction, $8 crore for land acquisition and ₹50 lakh for other ancillary works. Once completed, the 384.1 metre-long bridge will connect the Nehru Trophy ward in the municipality to the mainland.
