Rekha Gupta turns attention to Delhi gig workers after nod to women's aid scheme
India TodayThe Delhi government has initiated steps to implement another key poll promise by forming a committee to design welfare schemes for gig workers, including delivery personnel. The BJP, during the Delhi election campaign, pledged a range of welfare measures for gig workers, including life and accidental insurance worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively. A day before this announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed the rollout of another major welfare scheme - the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, which will provide Rs 2,500 in monthly financial assistance to eligible women in Delhi. Beyond these two initiatives, the BJP government has also set up six other committees to implement various labor-related schemes, including welfare measures for domestic workers and the implementation of labour codes such as the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, and the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.
