Budget 2020: Govt support for auto component industry
India TodayFinance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced a "handholding support" for the Indian automotive component industry for technology upgradations, R&D and business strategy planning while presenting the Budget 2020. For selected sectors such as pharmaceuticals, auto components and others, we propose to extend handholding support for technology upgradations, R&D, business strategy planning and so on," Sitharaman said while presenting the Budget 2020. In the Budget 2019, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced an additional tax benefit of Rs 1.5 lakh on the interest paid on the loans taken for the purchase of the electric vehicles. The government had last year approved total budgetary support of Rs 10,000 crore over three years from April 2019 for the promotion of electric mobility in India under the second phase of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India scheme.
