Will robots take your job?

BEIJING - As a growing number of Chinese factories use robots to replace human labor, one Silicon Valley veteran warns that the trends may reduce job opportunities and dampen consumption. That can be a big economic and social problem," said Martin Ford, author of "Rise of the Robots: Technology and the Threat of a Jobless Future," in an exclusive interview with Xinhua. But for that to happen, "you need to have consumers that can buy those services," said Ford, a leading artificial intelligence and job automation expert. Ford is the founder of a Silicon Valley-based software development firm and has published two books on the trend of automation, including "Rise of the Robots," which was published in Chinese earlier this month.
