Samantha Donovan: Well, as Australia struggles with a nationwide teacher shortage, a 60 year veteran of the profession is urging others to take up a career in the classroom. Denise Walker has been teaching in New South Wales since 1964, and she says it's far more than a job. Luke Radford: At 83 years old, Denise Walker says she's never left school, although she has taken a few breaks. Luke Radford: Denise started work at Griffith High School in the New South Wales Riverina in January 1964 as a visual arts teacher. Denise Walker: When I first came out teaching, my darling father, who was a principal for 10 years at Dubbo South High School, and he said, look, I'll give you some word of advice.
