The Hindu

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta on Friday instructed Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. officials to take appropriate measures to redress the prominent demands of its contract workers. Chowta asked the company to examine the demands of workers related to providing health security, insurance and special allowance. The ONGC-MRPL Karmachari Sangha had demanded that such workers drawing more than ₹21,000 salary per month should be given medical claim facility and the company did not double special allowance of workers since eight years. Chowta instructed the company officials to submit the company’s reply in writing within three days after examining the demands.
