Sportsmen have turned 'Devbhoomi' Uttarakhand into 'Khelbhoomi': Amit Shah

India Today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday lauded Uttarakhand's transformation into a sports hub, saying that the state, known as 'Devbhoomi', has now emerged as 'Khelbhoomi'. While speaking at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games in Haldwani earlier in the day, the senior BJP leader also credited Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his efforts in expanding sports facilities across all districts, providing a competitive environment for athletes. Amit Shah, further in his address, also paid tribute to the 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama in 2019 and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a befitting reply to the heinous act by launching an airstrike in Pakistan. On February 14, 2019, the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad orchestrated a deadly attack on a bus carrying Central Reserve Police Force personnel in Pulwama, killing 40 jawans.
