MCC Budget for 2025-26 proposes to set up ‘steel bank’ to reduce plastic use in functions

The Mangaluru City Corporation Budget for 2025-26 has proposed to set up a ‘steel bank.’ It is to provide steel utensils to programme organisers for free to stop the use of plastic in functions. Presenting the Budget in a special meeting of the corporation on Tuesday, Kadri Manohar Shetty, chairman, standing committee for taxation, finance and appeals, said that the corporation has reserved ₹20 lakh for purchasing steel plates, glasses, and spoons. Vaccine for cervical cancer Mr. Shetty said that the corporation has proposed to arrange free vaccination to protect girls aged between 11 and 14 from Human Papillomavirus infection which can result in cervical cancer later. Mr. Shetty said that ₹3 lakh has been reserved to provide incentive to such NGOs which provide free training to school and college students in farm technology, agriculture and farm related research.
