KPCL Issues Alert As Water Released From Supa Dam
Deccan ChronicleKarwar: Due to continuous heavy inflow into the Supa Dam in Uttara Kannada district, and the forecast of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall by the India Meteorological Department for the next seven days, authorities have initiated action to release excess flood water. About 10,000 cusecs of water is being released through three radial crest gates to maintain the reservoir's water level within safe limits. The current water level in the Supa Reservoir is steadily rising due to consistent rainfall in the dam's catchment area. Earlier in the day, in the backdrop of the decision to release water from the dam, the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited had advised residents along the downstream areas of the Supa Dam and the riverbanks to take necessary precautions to protect their property, livestock, and lives.
