Mass Surya Namaskara performed to mark Ratha Saptami

Mysuru Yoga Okkuta conducted a mass yoga and surya namaskara programme to mark Ratha Saptami here on Tuesday. Mass yoga and Surya Namaskara have been conducted by the Okkuta on Ratha Saptami day since 2001. Underlining the significance of mass Surya Namaskara which drew hundreds of yoga practitioners, the organisers said that Ratha Saptami is associated with the Sun God and hence Surya Namaskara also amounts to paying obeisance to the deity. Besides, yoga and Surya Namaskara not only promote one’s health through rejuvenation of body and mind but also strengthen concentration which brings its benefits in daily life, according to the Okkuta members.
