Fitbits DO make you move more! Review of over 100 randomised trials finds

They were written off by many as just another fitness fad. But a new review has found wearable activity devices like Fitbits and Apple watches really can make people more active. Overall, people who wear monitors take an extra 1,200 steps each day and complete nearly 50 minutes more of exercise per week, the results suggested. A study has found physical activity devices encourage people to do nearly 50 minutes of extra moderate to vigorous exercise per week The NHS recommends adults complete 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week to improve their health, and in particular, reduce their chances of heart disease or a stroke. Overall, the devices encouraged people to do more general physical activity, the equivalent of 1,235 extra steps and more 'moderate to vigorous physical activity', equivalent to 48.5 extra minutes per week.
